The "Occupational Health and Safety Industry Group", OHSIG, was formed in 2005 with three founding associations. Over the last 3 years, 8 more associations have joined OHSIG. This has the potential combined membership in excess of 2500 OH&S professionals.
The OHSIG acts as an industry forum to bring the voice of OH&S providers to government and equally for government to have a single point of contact with the industry. It is committed to improving the health and safety of NZ employees at all levels.
The "industry" was well developed but not cohesive or visible. OHSIG acting as a conduit has dramatically set about changing that situation.
The OHSIG meets with representatives from each stakeholder group quarterly or on a needs/ issue basis.
Membership is open to all associations who work in or are involved in OH&S within the NZ business context.
